Within the rose where thorn is curled,
a maiden’s body hides a world.
Below, the mandrake’s root entwines,
bewitching thoughts with secret signs.
From out her womb a part breaks free,
a lady born for all to see.
She wanders far with longing’s flame,
while lustful men bring only shame.
What should stay silent finds its voice,
though truth leaves little room for choice.
Both leave the scholars quite dismayed;
her fearless words let beauty stay.
At last she turns where all roads bend,
as bitter lessons find their end.
A thorn then pricks the maiden’s hand,
the speaking lady leaves the land.
How can the two be whole once more,
as they had always been before?
She sees a youth her heart holds dear,
and love at last draws softly near.
A first embrace, a joyful kiss,
a laugh that speaks of newfound bliss.
With one true love, and one alone,
she finds herself, at last, made whole.
